Middle East Business Aviation – MEBA 2013

11-13 December 2012 Dubai World Central Airport This relatively young trade show has now moved into third place behind the NBAA in the USA and EBACE in Geneva as a showcase for executive jets and all their associated trimmings. Previously hosted at the Dubai International airport this was its first showing at the new Dubai World Central (DWC); slightly south of the city and closer to the Etihad hub at Abu Dhabi. Now serving as a freight hub, DWC is finding it difficult to attract airlines and much of the infrastructure is incomplete; however, business jet fixed base operators are staking their claims as they are eased out of Dubai International by the growth of Emirates and its local subsidiary Fly Dubai.

RIAT – Royal International Air Tattoo – 2011

16-17 July 2011 The prospects for this year's 40th Anniversary Tattoo were bleak, a wet weather forecast and continuing NATO commitments in north Africa effecting attendees. However, the show was spectacular as ever. Any doubts were offset by the anticipation of the first UK appearance of the Saudi 'Green Falcons' with their Hawks and the return of the Ukraine Air Force with a Sukhoi Flanker and Il-76 support. Saturday dawned wet but by early afternoon the sun broke through allowing the show to commence; by the evening a warm clear patch rewarded the large and diligent crowds.
